The Puma 917 trainers take inspiration from video games, motorsports and the Porsche 917 race car. The retro video game graphics on the Puma 917 trainers are intended to resemble the 8-bit video game graphics of the 1980s. The game graphic brick wall print fabric serves as the sockliner. The colorway also reflects the paint scheme of the Porsche 917. Along with this, the underfoot of the shoes feature a racing-influenced tire tread rubber which provides low profile traction.
