The Puma G. Vilas was the leather cousin of the Puma California. It featured a thick outsole which added etra cushioning for tennis players. The front toe box was perforated, allowing the foot to breathe. Holes were even put into the side panels, yet this did not take away support from the upper. Besides being a tennis shoe, the G. Vilas became popular among the soccer casual scene.

Towards the later part of the 80s, Puma Vilas trainers quickly became a hit amongst the terrace culture. The trainers slimline profile with a mix of suede and leather upper, gold branding, one piece label and lace guard and perforated toe box, made this classic Puma trainer a tennis and terrace icon.
