The Nike Sportswear Tee was a first in Nike Clothing. This was the sampler for them the first ever tee to be brought out by Nike. So they decided to do it in style at the 1972 Track and Field trials. Everyone including player, fans and officials wore one, even thought it was against the rules.

The Nike tee was a success and failure as everyone was asking who's Mike? So the next lot of Tee that Nike Brought out were big and bold and all in capitals so that no one would get confused.
