The Nike Air Max Light was first issued in 1989 as a performance running shoe but was outshone by the Air Max 90. The Nike Air Max Light also know as the Air Max II was designed and made to weigh less. Nike achieved this by replacing the old polyurethane with the new phylon which made it lighter than the original.
